Washington Gov. Inslee Slated to Give Keynote Address Pacific Marine Expo

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee is scheduled to give a keynote address on the latest in technologies and services in the blue economy during the final day of Pacific Marine Expo in Seattle on Nov. 22.

His scheduled presentation is part of the “State of the Blue Annual Gathering: Innovation Impact, and Investment in the Blue Economy” event, under a partnership between Pacific Marine Expo planners and Washington Maritime Blue, a regional maritime and blue economy innovation cluster.

Inslee is slated to be among the early speakers at the Olympic Club Lounge in Lumen Field, with the full program running from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with leadership of start-up companies and hear of programming that updates major initiatives such as sustainable maritime fuels, Quiet Sound, workforce development and green technologies.

Also scheduled to participate are speakers and panelists from industry, government, research institutions and community organizations. Investors and funders are slated to share updates, trends and case studies.

Other highlights of this year’s Pacific Marine Expo are to include the 12th annual Maritime Economic Forecast Breakfast, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Nov. 21, with nearly 300 industry leaders in attendance.

Presentations are scheduled to be made by Port of Seattle Executive Director Steve Metruck; U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr., the Guard’s deputy commandant for Mission Support; Washington Maritime Blue founder, president and CEO Joshua Berger; Selena Elmer, assistant director & chief of staff of Ocean & Climate with the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program; Washington State Ferries Director Steve Nevey; and Maritime High School Principal Jamila Gordon.

This year’s Expo also features a full exhibit floor of more than 350 companies displaying the latest in equipment and services from top industry manufacturers and suppliers, the popular Alaska Hall, product demonstrations, a special Fishermen’s Lounge and other special events.
